Influenced by Loknaik Jayaprakash Narayan, From a young age, Kishan Reddy embraced leadership and actively took part in the Telangana movement. His efforts to strengthen the party included organizing the ‘Telangana Poru Yatra’ from Krishna River to Godavari River, where he addressed 333 meetings.

Kishan Reddy embarked on his political journey in 1977 as the leader of Janata Party Yuva Morcha. In 1982, he assumed the role of state treasurer for BJYM. Following this, from 1986 to 1990, he served as the state president of BJYM Andhra Pradesh. Over the course of 1990 to 2004, he held various positions within the state and national working groups of BJYM. From 2010 to 2016, he took on the responsibility of joint Telangana State – BJP President. In 2004, he secured his first victory as the Himayat Nagar MLA, followed by subsequent wins in Amberpet in 2009 and 2014. From 2016 to 2018, he assumed the role of leader of the Telangana Legislative Assembly on behalf of the BJP. However, he faced defeat in the 2018 assembly elections. In 2019, he emerged victorious as the Member of Parliament for Secunderabad. From May 2019 to July 2021, he served as the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, and from July 2021 onwards, he took on the role of Union Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Development of North Eastern States. In July 2023, he was once again appointed as the state president of BJP. During Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s tenure as prime minister, he played a pivotal role in formulating the National Youth Policy. Furthermore, he received recognition as a Unicef Child Friendly Legislator for his commendable efforts in facilitating free heart operations for children.
